Abu Dhabi Education Council Meets with German Delegation

Abu Dhabi: H.E. Dr. Mugheer Khamis Al-Khaili, Director General of the Abu Dhabi Education Council (ADEC) received H.E. Johans Burman, the Governor of the German State of Lower Saxony and H.E. Klaus-Peter Brandes, Ambassador of Germany to the United Arab Emirates to discuss cooperation between ADEC and Saxony in the area of technical and professional education and training .
“ADEC already has a successful partnership with Germany and through our Dresden Internship Summer Program have supported Emirati students in developing skills they will need to contribute to a knowledge economy that the emirate of Abu Dhabi is striving for.” Said H.E. Dr Al-Khaili.
“We are keen to continue our strong working relationship with Germany and in particular we can see ADEC benefiting from the German expertise in education and its well-known reputation worldwide,” added H.E. Dr. Al-Khaili.
ADEC will again this year sponsor a group of students who will study and gain practical work experience in Germany as part of the summer training program for outstanding students. This initiative began last year with 20 engineering students participating in the program.
H.E. Dr. Al-Khaili briefed the German delegation on ADEC’s 10-Year Strategic Plan that is commited toimproving student development through implementing a set of initiatives such as strengthening bilingual skills, improved student assessments, greater emphasis on innovation and skill building and a stronger math and science curriculum to ensure students in Abu Dhabi are well-educated and have the necessary skills needed to support a sustainable and knowledge-based economy.
ADEC has partnered with many local and international institutes to help drive their changes for a better educational future in the emirate of Abu Dhabi. ADEC will continue to develop partnerships with top class institutions to lay down the foundation of Abu Dhabi’s vision for a system of education excellence.
