ADEC Discusses New School Model to Be Applied By Abu Dhabi Schools

Abu Dhabi: During a retreat held today at the Shangri-La Hotel - Abu Dhabi, headed by HE Dr. Mugheer Khamis AL Khaili, Director General of Abu Dhabi Education Council, the new school model designed by a taskforce comprising highly-qualified education experts and specialists, was discussed. ADEC intends to apply the new school model, to start with KG, effective the beginning of the coming school year.

After the retreat, Dr. Al Khaili said that this new school model is part of ADEC strategic plan, the implementation of which has started as of this school year, aiming at developing the educational system in the emirate.
“All aspects of the new model, including school environment, principals & Vice Principals, teachers, curriculum, educational programs, latest educational technologies, labs, etc were discussed during the retreat. The model focuses on KG students, during the earliest years of education in order to motivate them to love learning and acquire the basic skills needed, particularly skills in Arabic, their mother tongue, and English, the language of instruction in Math and Science”, said Dr. Mugheer.
“We should provide students with opportunities to enjoy learning and positively interact with their teachers and colleagues through helping them acquire critical thinking & problem solving skills and have self confidence early in their life” Dr. Al Khaili stressed.
Other issues such as the involvement of parents in the education of their children, was also discussed during the retreat.
