ADEC Receives Scholars with Special Needs After They Finished the First Semester in USA

Abu Dhabi: Abu Dhabi Education Council received students with special needs who have been sent to complete their higher education in Hartford, USA as a generous grant from H.H Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces and Chairman of Abu Dhabi Education Council and the support of H.H Sheikh Mansour Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Presidential Affairs and Deputy Chairman of Abu Dhabi Education Council. The scholars and their parents were welcomed by H.E. Dr. Mugheer Khamis Al-Khaili, Director General of ADEC, in the presence of Mr. Peter Peltier, Principal of American School for the Deaf and Maryam Saif Al Qubaisi, Chairperson of the Special Needs People Sector at Zayed Higher Foundation for Humanitarian Care, Special Needs and Minor Affairs.
Having finished the first semester, students briefed Dr. Al-Khaili on their welfare during their stay in USA. They also updated H.E. on their aspirations, academic achievements and related roadblocks. Dr. Al Khaili emphasized that our prudent leadership is keen on providing special needs students with the appropriate environment so that they can interact with scientific developments and continue their higher education.
“ADEC’s strategy focuses on the integration of students with special needs into society through the provision of the latest educational and training opportunities to give them the chance to take part in national development”, Director General added. Dr. Al- Khaili stressed that ADEC follows-up students during the scholarship until they obtain their degrees.
Dr. Al-Khaili stressed that providing special needs students with educational opportunities in specialized institutions abroad equal to regular students is achieved by ADEC for the first time in UAE. Thus, it will significantly develop the skills and abilities of those students and enable them to keep pace with modern life and technology.
Dr. Al Khaili said that any issues related to study or other concerns will be adequately and promptly addressed by ADEC in collaboration with UAE Embassy in USA to ensure the welfare of scholars abroad.
